Our Senior Pastor and Family
- The Bowmans -
Daniel & Melissa ... Ryan and Alyssa
Both coming from Christian and missionary family backgrounds, we asked Jesus to come into our hearts early in life. Daniel was born in Madrid, Spain, where he lived through his junior year in high school. Melissa lived most of her elementary and junior high years in Maine and Vermont, until moving to Brazil with her parents.
After finishing school (Melissa at New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Daniel at Grace, Winona Lake, Indiana), we were married in August of 1991. We have served in several churches (Interim, Youth, and Senior positions) in the Chicago area, as well as serving as missionaries for several years in Madrid, Spain. In December of 2004, we began serving God here at Marsh Corner Community Church.
God has blessed us with three great kids! Joshua, born in 1994, was born with heart problems and after 22 short months, he went to be with Jesus. Ryan, born in 1997, and Alyssa, born in 1999, continue to grow and learn and bring us joy! Turtles, cameras, and soccer balls motivate Ryan, while Alyssa loves horses and princesses – any shape or size!
Melissa loves to read, sing, and home school our kids, while Daniel enjoys soccer, music, and traveling. We’re thankful to be serving at Marsh Corner…glad that God is using us for His glory.

Insanity has been defined as "doing the same thing over and over, while expecting different results."
And, this definition is probably pretty accurate! Three of our core values at Marsh Corner - as reflected in our purpose statement - are Maturity, Outreach, and Leadership Training.
However, if we are not proactive in these three areas, we can’t expect to make progress.
We can’t expect for these dynamics to "just happen."
Therefore, in an attempt to be as efficient and effective as possible, we are providing some new opportunities for the Marsh Corner family.
You have most likely already heard about them elsewhere, but in a nutshell, here’s what "church life" will look like beginning October 1.

The Services at Six
Our Sunday evenings are going to look quite different (again, refer back to the definition of Insanity).
In order to be more proactive in certain areas - and in order to make progress!
- the second Sunday evening of the month will be the only time we’ll have a 'traditional' service.
Read on, for more details!
Leadership Training
The first Sunday evening of each month will be dedicated to an intensive Leadership Training course.
This class will not just be theory, but will be designed to have on-the-job training as well...and yes,
a little homework!
|
Worship
The second Sunday evening will be more of a typical service, with singing, sharing, having different missionaries share, special events, and/or messages. While every service will be different, the format will be more typical.
|
Outreach
The third Sunday evening of each month, each one in our church family will be encouraged to reach out to a neighbor, friend, co-worker...one who does not know Jesus! Reach out, build bridges, dig into their lives. First of all, to gain a friend. Second, to have the opportunity - which God will give! - to share Christ. “Go, and make disciples...”
|
Life Groups
The fourth Sunday evening will continue to be dedicated to our Life Groups... small groups that meet (normally) in homes as people share, laugh, pray, connect, study...and usually eat! A certain (Acts 2) dynamic happens in Life Groups that doesn’t seem to happen anywhere else... So, what you are you waiting for? Join one!

What We Believe
We believe in the Bible as the complete, inerrant, verbally-inspired Word of God.
We believe in the Trinity of the Godhead - one God existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the absolute deity and the perfect humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His substitutionary death, His bodily resurrection and ascension into Heaven. We believe in His personal coming for His church and His visible, glorious return with His church to set up His Kingdom.
We believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit through whom men are regenerated. We believe that He convicts of sin, baptizes, indwells, and empowers the believer.
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan.
We believe in the fall of man and the necessity of the new birth through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that Christ instituted the two ordinances of the church: baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper to commemorate His death.
We believe in the bodily resurrection, eternal life, and blessedness of the righteous, and the bodily resurrection, judgment, and the eternal existence and punishment of the wicked.
Joining Our Church
Church membership affords a wonderful opportunity to commit to a local church – to support the church through prayer, fellowship, financially, and using the talents and abilities that God has given you. Some of the privileges in church membership are the ability to teach and lead ministries, to vote in matters that concern the church family, and to be accountable to the church leadership.
