“What does a model church look like?”

 

 

* Organization of the Church *

 

1-2 – “First of all” – Prayer

  - 7 Greek nouns for prayer

 

     Philippians 4:6 –

 

 

 

  – no distinction…

 

 

  - purpose: lead quiet (external) and peaceable

 

       (internal) lives  

       

 

 

3-4 – “God our Savior”

 

* salvation depends on a knowledge of the truth!

 

5-6 – Mediator

 

* prayer is based on His work as Mediator!!!

 

  - ransom –

 

  - proper time – Galatians 4:4-5

 

 

 

 

7 - “herald and preacher”

 

            ð how about me?

ATTENTION: MEN

 

8 – Prayer

 

  - a – “lifting up holy  hands”

 

  - b – “without dissensions”

 

  - c – “without wrath”

 

 

 

 

ATTENTION: WOMEN

 

9-10 – appearance – goal: no extravagance

 

11-14 – the woman’s position / attitude

  - this is Christ’s teaching… not Paul’s teaching!

  - quiet = peaceable

  - submit = “to rank under”

“The Gospel elevated a women’s position in the Roman world!”

  * women were greatly involved in Ministry.

    - Phoebe carried the book of Romans to its destination

            AND was a deaconess (Romans 16:1)

 

 

Reasons:

  - order of creation

  - fall into sin

 

 

15 – “preserved/saved through the bearing of children”

 

Who is it that greatly influences the kind of people who grow up…

eventually becoming leaders in our churches?
